On 17th February 2026, the Environment and Sanitation Sub-Committee of the Agortime-Ziope District Assembly convened to deliberate on strategic interventions aimed at improving environmental sanitation and public health across the district.
The meeting provided a platform for members to review ongoing initiatives and discuss key issues affecting sanitation service delivery. Among the major agenda items were:
- Verification of Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) communities through DICCS.
- Preparations for the celebration and recognition of Open Defecation Free (ODF) communities.
- Deliberations on the challenges posed by stray animals and Fulani herdsmen within the district.
- Planning for the launch of the District WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Master Plan.
The discussions reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to promoting sustainable sanitation practices, strengthening environmental governance, and fostering healthier communities through coordinated planning and stakeholder collaboration.
